Free Macaron Day in Toronto!

Today i went out with a bunch of friends to taste macarons in Toronto! It was an official event, with many stores participating and since I'd never had a macaron before I figured it was the perfect time to try one!
Here's the official website if you're interested: Macaron Day TO

They were very delicious.. we walked from one end of the city to the other (almost). If you ever visit Toronto, I recommend the Nadège Patisserie on either 1099 Yonge St. or 780 Queen St. West! Everything in that store looked absolutely gorgeous and tasty. They also had the best macarons I tried today.

They also had other tasty treats for sale! I like the little macaron cake.(*´艸`*) I think food should always look this cute!

We stopped by for indian food and menchies frozen yogurt on the way back~
I had such a great time.. I hope we can do it again soon!

Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Therapy Favourites

(Please forgive the image quality, I'm still missing my camera charger! These were taken on my phone. ;A;)
Hey guys! Another beauty product post for you!

Yesterday I went to the Eaton Centre with Gage and picked up some stuff from Crabtree & Evelyn! We don't have this store near my hometown, so I wanted to get some more of their hand cream before the school year ends!

Crabtree has a lot of skin care products, but I also believe they sell really good tea.. haven't tried it out yet though, just from what I've heard. :P I like the 'old' feeling of their products.. they remind me of old England. It's all very feminine and floral looking. I simply love it! I hope more stores adopt this simple and elegant style in their products.

The new scent I purchased was the Spider Lily one! It came in the box above which was nice. I find the tube can get easily smushed, so it might be a good idea to keep the box for when you're traveling.

These are the scents that I currently own (left to right):

India Hicks Island Living (Spider Lily): A soft blend of spider lily, citruses, night-blooming jasmine, green palms and sea air accords. Personally, I think this scent is so fresh and light. It has the perfect hint of floral without being too perfumed. I think you could get away with wearing this to work without bothering anyone. I would also recommend this for people sensitive to perfumes, but still wish for a little fragrance (such as myself). This is my current favourite.

Summer Hill: White floral blend of summer grasses, wildflowers and orchard fruits. I find this scent to be a bit heavier than the spider lily one, but it's still pleasant all the same.

Iris: Exquisitely scented orris from the root of the iris flower, blended with precious sandalwood, sensuous patchouli and a hint of fresh vetiver. I suppose this is the middle ground out of the three that I own; not too heavy, but not entirely light either.

All of the scents available come in three sizes: 25g, 50g, 100g. Above, I only have the 25g and 100g shown. I think the 25g is the perfect size for bringing your favourite scent in your purse, as the larger sizes are pretty big.

If you're tentative about this brand, buy the travel size and keep it on you. The prices in store are reasonable.

You also don't need to use a lot of the product. Above, the amount shown can easily be used for both hands. The formula isn't greasy at all and your hands feel soft and supple throughout most of the day. I would suggest reapplying halfway through the day if you do a lot of work with your hands.

Also, I find this soothes dry, itchy skin very easily. There are also a wide range of scents ranging from heavy florals to light and airy citruses.

Most (if not all) of their hand therapy creams are free of parabens, lauryl sulfates, mineral oil and propylene glycol.

So go check it out! And tell me what you think :)

Toronto Comicon (MTAC) 2012

I lost my charger, so there's gonna be a lack of photos for a while. >3> (perhaps i'll take some on my phone for the time being?)

So last Saturday I went to the Toronto Comicon with Sachie and a bunch of other good friends!
I also got to see Carmen there, but I wish I could have seen all of my moetron group there! I miss them so much!

MTAC got a facelift from Hobbystar, so now it's called 'Toronto Comicon' (oooooh). I still call it MTAC though since it was basically the same experience, but you still had to pay. I think it's a better idea to get more conventions that pay though, since I think we were spoiled before with our lobbying... I mean, cons can't improve if they have no income right?!

Anyways, we met up with a bunch of people in the end, but before that let me tell you something scary!

SO! After I met up with Sachie at Union, we went to get dressed into our cosplays. I was a bit nervous because it was my first time wearing my contacts in public and it still takes me a while to put them in. ANYWAYS, when I finally got them in, my right eye was stinging a little and then when I looked at it again the lens was GONE. It actually went under my eyelid when I rubbed it! 。°(°´Д`°)°。
I was really scared because I've heard horror stories and stuff, so I was starting to panic a little because I couldn't see it at all! What I did to get it to peek out enough for me to be able to grab it was that I gently rubbed toward and down the tear duct.
BUT YA... SCARY! So don't go rubbing your eyes if you have lenses in them!! ヽ(o`皿′o)ノ

Ya so after that we hung around, took some photos. I was only in my kigurumi because that's all I had with me at school... (๑¯△¯๑)

I also got some nice photos of Sachie, but because I'm not used to her camera they ended up being too overexposed Щ(ºДºщ) Although I think because I started getting her into poses, it kinda got the ball rolling for the other guys with us to start as well... I think they're a little shy. I think if it was just the two of us though, we'd be able to get some really nice photos. I think it's because we're both girls..?

Afterwards we went to Korean BBQ with Justin, Ackson and then Kyle showed up! There was a lot of meat.. it was tasty ( ̄﹁ ̄)

Also, I don't know if I've mentioned this yet.. but I have a Facebook Page so you should totally go check it out! :D
And that is all for now! See you later!

Sana Under eye Concealer

I've been looking for a concealer for my dark circles recently. I find it hard to find a concealer that I like that isn't too heavy, or doesn't settle into fine lines.

I bought this Sana concealer, not only because the packaging was cute, but also because it was well priced.

Who could resist this packaging?! (*´艸`*)

When I first swatched it on my hand, I was surprised as how YELLOW it was! Luckily it blends well enough. For those of you unaware, yellow helps to cancel dark under eye circles because they're on opposite sides of the colour wheel.

I found this concealer to have more of a brightening effect, rather than a masking, or concealing effect. This can either make or break this product depending on what you're going for. I think using this, plus a teeny bit of bb cream or foundation could would be ok to cover up any minor under eye circles or discolouration. For this reason I think this is mostly suitable for daily use.

If you're going for a complete concealing effect though, you're either going to have to really layer on this product (which is never good), or look elsewhere. For this reason, I would have to say cosplayers should look elsewhere for an under eye concealer.

EOS Dueba DollyEye Dreamy I. Blue

Today I'll be reviewing some circle lenses that I got from Uniqso.com!

I have to say that I was really impressed with their service. My questions were answered promptly and it was an overall pleasant transaction with them. The lenses were also shipped very quickly, so I'm thankful to them for that!

They also had the tracking number and the lens case included, so that's great as well! I also love the box it came with. Not only is it cute, but it can also hold 2 lens cases. Now I don't have to worry about losing them.

Onto the lenses now:

Manufacturer: EOS Dueba/G&G
Diameter: 14.5
Base Curve: 8.6mm
Water Content: 38%
Replacement Period: 12 months

I wanted a darker blue colour for my Senjougahara cosplay, but I also wanted a larger lens so that I have that girly, big eyed look. I find large eyes very hypnotic!

Practicing my tsundere face haha のヮの;

The black outer ring gives you that extra pop when taking photos and the colour is amazingly vibrant and opaque!

I would recommend these lenses for cosplayers who want a vibrant colour and a great enlarging effect. There are larger lenses out there, but I feel that this size would be great for most girl characters. I think 15mm would be the biggest you should go, especially if the character is younger (15mm will give a better 'puppy eye' look).

I think you'll need eye drops with these lenses if you're going to be wearing them for an extended period of time. Sometimes I'd feel a bit of discomfort while wearing them and then other times it's as if they weren't there.

Overall:
Colour: 5/5
Design: 5/5
Enlarging effect: 4.5/5
Comfort: 4/5

BRTC Jasmine Water BB Cream

I recently purchased the BRTC Jasmine Water BB Cream from sasa.com! I bought it because the other BB cream was only a travel size and so I ran out quickly. I wanted something moisturizing, that had benefits for my skin and also provided a good coverage for my skin tone.

I'm always glad to see things with SPF, because I'm terrible with remembering to use it. I really should be using it daily because I have very fair and delicate skin. I also burn very easily (no tanning here)!

Even though I'm too young for wrinkles, I imagine that the anti-aging properties will act as a preventive for me..

This BB cream comes out a little more pink than the other ones I've seen from reviews. Once blended and after oxidizing, I found it matched my skintone fairly well and didn't drain the colour from my face as much as the Skin79 did.

I'd say it has about the same coverage as the Missha M Perfect Cover (light-medium). Also compared to Missha, I found this BRTC cream did have a scent to it but it was much nicer than that of Missha. I imagine the scent of the BRTC is that of jasmine!

One thing I noticed right away was that my pores seemed to disappear! I have fairly noticeable pores around my nose, and I only needed a little to cover them up. As for larger blemishes, you might need additional concealer to completely hide them. This bb cream, however, seemed to do a good job of smoothing out the skin tone and taking care of smaller spots.

Be sure to exfoliate if you have dry skin! This bb cream seemed to highlight all the dry patches on my face upon close inspection. With regular exfoliation, this shouldn't be a huge issue.

I also noticed that it makes your skin look SUPER dewy. A little powder fixes that, unless you like the dewy look. :)

Overall
  • Pink undertones don't leave you looking like a ghost
  • light to medium coverage
  • has the scent of jasmine
  • has SPF 30, anti-wrinkle & whitening properties (Missha has more SPF at 42 PA+++)
  • more hydrating than Missha M Perfect Cover
In all, I think if other BB creams are taking the colour out of your face, then try this one. If you like a pleasant scent to your cosmetics, but isn't as heavy as the Missha M Perfect Cover, then try this. It's a good all-around BB cream, that I would especially recommend for fair skinned caucasians.

Sasa.com (mini) Haul

Hi everyone!

February seemed to be the month of sales! A lot of my favourite online stores had great deals going on, so I'm afraid I indulged a little. I have been meaning to order from sasa for a while now, but I'm always turned off by shipping charges so I never bothered. Luckily for me they had a promotion going on a few weeks ago, where if you spent enough money (I think it was around $20?) you could get free shipping. Well, finding ways to spend money on sasa isn't very hard... (;;;°;ω°;)

Here's what I got!

My Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream is only a travel size, so I'm going to run out soon. I figured picking up the BRTC Jasmine Water BB cream would be worth a try, as I wasn't completely satisfied with my Missha.

I also picked up the Sana dark circle concealer in Light Yellow. I've been dying for an under eye concealer and the packaging was so cute that I had to get it!

So please look forward to some reviews in the future.
I'm also expecting some lenses for my Senjougahara cosplay, so I'll be updating you all on my cosplay plans soon!

Take care.
