Katsucon Figure Gets

So recently I've been leaning towards collecting smaller figures. Not only can I fit more in my suitcase for the journey home, but it also feels as if I've purchased more for less money. You can definitely go super cheap, and cheap quality, but in general the smaller figures are just as nice as some of the larger ones. It all depends on which way you want to go. I did a quick sweep of the dealer's room at Katsucon this year but only had a little cash so I had to pick and choose what I decided to get. So there are only a couple this time around but I think they're cute additions to my collection!

The first one I got is from a series called Natsume Yuujinchou (or Natsume's Book of Friends). It's one of my favourite series and I highly recommend it! The character portrayed here is Nyanko-sensei, or Madara when in his real form. He likes to eat.. and is a super pudgy cat. Need I say more?

The figure is produced by Banpresto and is the largest of my purchases this time around.

I was surprised by the level of detail and the series has three other figures you can collect featuring this character.

I saw this Shirahoshi (One Piece) figure and sort of hesitated to buy it. I've been eyeing her figures for a while since I really like her design, but I don't know enough about One Piece to justify buying a larger scale. In fact I saw this exact same pose going for the regular price, and while it was very beautiful I eventually settled for the much smaller and cheaper version. I finally have the giant (tiny) mermaid on my shelf!

I liked the transition from opaque to transparency in her hair and tail. I thought it was a nice touch to an otherwise cheaply made figure. The only thing I have to settle with is the very crude shading around her breasts. Overall though the paint and detail is still very nice.

As you know I'm a sucker for interesting bases. From what I've seen most versions of this pose doesn't feature the ring but instead a rocky base (far less interesting to me).

So a while back I bought my boyfriend one of those mystery mini figures. You see all the various things you can get and then open a random figure. It actually started my appreciation of mini figures because a) they were surprisingly well-made, and b) I liked the surprise of which one you get! Just make sure you like the majority of the figures or else you'll be more likely to get disappointed with the one you're settled with. For me, Monster Hunter is a super safe choice because I'll probably love anything that comes in that tiny box!

While I couldn't find the exact series I got my boyfriend, I did spy this set at a table and decided to pick one up! I like his cute angry expression, but I was secretly hoping for the watermelon piggy you could get...! His head actually moves around like a little bobble head, but seems to be more secure because the head remains upright rather than slanted like most bobble-heads get.

I really like these little guys! I think I'll stay on the lookout for more when I go to cons!

July Topbox 2012 Impressions

I received my last Topbox yesterday! I quit the service solely because I can't afford the extra expenses right now. I love this service, so I will definitely join again someday!

Onto the goodies:

The full size packaging looks really cute! Although this product would be way to expensive for me to buy. In that sense I really like this sample as it wouldn't be something I could normally try.. I can indulge a little~!

Name: PURE+SIMPLE Calming Cucumber Mask

Description: A refreshing all-natural skin calmer! (gel mask)

Full size: $25.25 (50 mL)

What I got: 20 mL

A pretty generous deluxe sample! Cucumber is gentle with sensitive skin if I remember correctly.. so if I have the time I'm definitely trying this out! Cucumber also helps to reduce the redness in your skin.

Name: NUME Hydro Punch

Description: An incredible blend of Morocco's finest Argan oil, this shampoo unravels years of dullness, damage, split ends, chemical damage, and much more.

Full size: $24.99 (250 mL)

What I got: 20 mL

Another generous deluxe sample. The full size seems pretty affordable for how much you get, so maybe if I really like this shampoo I'll try it out! I have a lot of split ends so I really hope this fixes them somewhat!

Name: Chine Glaze in Blue Sparrow (neon)

Description: A bright blue with micro shimmer.

Full size: $10-12 (14 mL)

What I got: FULL SIZE!

Another nail polish in this month's Topbox! Can't say I complain ;D This was also a personalized shade based on a survey we filled out. I don't think I have a blue so cute and shiny! I'm really happy with this item.

And then when I thought that was it, I noticed another card in the tube:

I couldn't really believe that there was a $100 gift certificate included. But it seems pretty legit! I visited the NUME website and a lot of their styling products are very high quality and expensive.. maybe I can use this to splurge on a new flat iron? :D This is pretty amazing!!

And so I leave Topbox with a heavy heart... for now! Thanks for reading as always♥

Sephora + LUSH + MAC (?) + etc. HAUL

So.... I splurged ;A; A lot of my makeup is running out/expiring so I went to MAC and Sephora before going home this week. We don't have a MAC store in my hometown so I was excited to try them out. (I usually buy my makeup from Shoppers Drug Mart orz. I was overwhelmed by the department store feeling lol)
If you follow my Twitter then you probably know that I'm not too happy with MAC right now lmao.

A quick snapshot of only some of the things that I got (I'll explain why later)

I got so many samples form Sephora for signing up with their beauty insider thing... I love samples ♥. Especially that Prada eau de toilette.. that's a pretty large sample! :O

The MAC lipstick I originally purchased though got switched out... misplaced... whatever.... with another shade somehow. Instead of a light, nude-ish shade they gave me this:

As you can see, the above colour is nothing what I described lmao ヽ(ｏ`皿′ｏ)ﾉ

But honestly what the hell? How do you mess up which shade of lipstick you bring to the counter when they all have names? XD What happened was this lady was helping me pick out a shade and then when I decided she went and pulled out on of the boxes from the drawer, brought it up to the counter herself and then asked me to wait in queue to be checked out. Forgetting the name of the product I chose, it was silly of me to just trust someone to pick out the right shade.

Effectively I had to go back to the mall the next day and return it, which put me in a sour mood and left a sour impression on MAC for me. The representative was also a bit sarcastic as well, which didn't make it any better. I used the money from returning it to spend at Sephora. So there. D:

Because I had to go back to the mall to return that lipstick, I then decided to check out Sephora once more to get a different lipstick. (I ended up with a Lancome one which I love)

I also decided to get a couple of the cheaper bubble bars from LUSH, which I can use when I go back home. (LUSH is another store we don't have there huhu)

Sasa.com (mini) Haul

Hi everyone!

February seemed to be the month of sales! A lot of my favourite online stores had great deals going on, so I'm afraid I indulged a little. I have been meaning to order from sasa for a while now, but I'm always turned off by shipping charges so I never bothered. Luckily for me they had a promotion going on a few weeks ago, where if you spent enough money (I think it was around $20?) you could get free shipping. Well, finding ways to spend money on sasa isn't very hard... (;;;°;ω°;)

Here's what I got!

My Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream is only a travel size, so I'm going to run out soon. I figured picking up the BRTC Jasmine Water BB cream would be worth a try, as I wasn't completely satisfied with my Missha.

I also picked up the Sana dark circle concealer in Light Yellow. I've been dying for an under eye concealer and the packaging was so cute that I had to get it!

So please look forward to some reviews in the future.
I'm also expecting some lenses for my Senjougahara cosplay, so I'll be updating you all on my cosplay plans soon!

Anime North! (Part Two?)

So! I'll start by talking about my figure. At first I was going to rant about how mad I was, since I thought I was scammed... turns out I wasn't though haha~ Anyways I got the Senjougahara Hitagi figure where the stationary is falling out of her skirt!!

What i THOUGHT happened was that I bought a figure without any pegs included (to support some pieces). As I was looking around to find these missing pegs I accidentally leaned over and snapped one of the more delicate pieces of the stationary. It's nothing a little glue won't fix and it's barely noticeable so I'm not too worried.

As you can see, I haven't completed putting her together since I still haven't glued back together that one piece.

I was really worried cause I thought they weren't included! Then I would've had to have settled for the lame version where she's just holding a stapler in each hand. So needless to say I'm very relieved!!

What else? I found out that there was another Kirin cosplayer at Anime North!!

Looking good! I didn't even know... you NEVER see Monster Hunter at conventions! How exciting!! Props to Stephie (i believe this is her) Since she was just as naked as I was that weekend haha :D

Anime North 2011!

Hi everyone, sorry I've been quiet for the past few days... I was at Anime North!

I was really excited for this year because I was going to cosplay as Kirin huntress from Monster Hunter with my boyfriend. I've been planning this cosplay for about a year now, so I had high hopes that it would be successful! It was raining on Friday so i didn't want to risk ruining my wig and outfit, so instead we just got our tickets and registered our weapons :3 We also bought what we wanted to get so that we wouldn't have to try and dodge people in the dealer's room haha..

I tried to keep myself calm this year though, since I don't really have much money to spend after all... So I only bought a Senjougahara Hitagi figure and volumes 3 and 4 of Maximum Ride (WHICH IS AWESOME BTW GO READ IT NOW!). I have something to say about the figure in my next post though.. 'tis a sad story.

The cosplay itself was very successful! Many people came up to take our picture and I didn't feel as self-conscious walking around in it for some reason... Although every once in a while when I'd bend over (to pick up my purse or whatever) I'd feel a little shy... It was also a little tedious lugging around a huge weapon... but I also felt reaaaaally cool >///////<

We also went to a lot of viewings for new anime I haven't heard of before! I have some things to watch now >:3 I had a lot of fun walking around with my boyfriend and deciding what to do next, even though I get a little intense sometimes haha XD;; I feel bad about that.

Although even though I had a great time cosplaying, the convention itself kind of left me feeling empty.. I wanted to hang out with my friends this weekend since there were promises of fun times, etc... But even though I texted them and tried to seek them out, I couldn't help but feel a little... ditched? left out? I don't know... It's happened so much to me with other people that I couldn't help but anticipate it. I know they're good friends, and it's true that I denied their offer to cosplay with them (because I already had plans)... I just wish they would've replied to my texts? Or that we organized somewhere to meet? I guess it was awkward me being with my boyfriend and all. I don't know... I'm definitely going to try harder to hang out with them next time though! I want to cosplay in a group with them and hotel with them...
Next time maybe... So even though I had some really good times, it also felt a little incomplete.

A present from Sachie!

I know right? You must be tired of all these haul posts XD;; I'll try to come up with something more interesting soon! I'm impressed that I'm keeping up with posts as it is haha

Anyways! I received a present in the mail today from my lovely husbando Sachie! We were a little worried because apparently the parcel was taking a long time to get here. I always love Sachie's gifts because she has a wonderful sense of humour and she always remembers things that we've talked about. She picks good gifts that mean something. (I on the other hand am terrible at picking gifts, and I'm always so worried that they won't like what i get them...)

Here's what I got!

 Isn't that a cute card?! We used to exchange letters back and forth, and I always looked forward to what kind of stationary I'd get to see next :3

  One of the face masks I received was this one! I've never seen this kind before.. but I've been going on a face mask adventure recently so I'm really happy that I get to try this one out too! I don't know what it does for you because I can't read Chinese... so I posted the back of the box in case you can and are interested in this product! (If you can get the gist then by all means leave a comment so I know too haha!!)

 And then the next thing came in this cute little box!! I guess they're eye masks that prevent wrinkles and gets rid of dark circles? They're so cute.. can't wait to try them!

Thanks Sachie for the wonderful gifts! Now I can even be prettier for you ;D Lets take care of our skin so we look DAMN SMEXY for AN!
