Otakon 2012 Con Report Day 0: Thursday

FINALLY MY FIRST AMERICAN CONVENTION! (I can taste the freedom lol)

I've never had the luxury of travelling too much, and I've never gone without family accompanying me before.. I felt so happy being able to chill with Sachie and Genie for the weekend! It was a very cool experience.

The week before was super hectic! I was spending every Sunday over at Genie's working on cosplay right up until the week of the convention! We even got dragged into a Matryoshika Vocaloid group with CourtoonXIII and Solo-dono (which is totally fine! It was a little stressful though! HAHA) I'm really proud of Synchronicity, as you guys know that I'm kind of tentative when it comes to my skills in making cosplay.. I'm happy it turned out well!

We left for Baltimore super late Wednesday night via Megabus (which is like Greyhound, and other bus coaches like that). In total it was about an 11 hour ride.. not fun haha. The people traveling with us made it a much better experience though!

I was so tired when we arrived in Baltimore Thursday.. to be honest I don't remember it much.. we took a taxi to the hotel (seeing the 'real' Baltimore was an... experience) and got our badges. We pre-registered and the lines moved really quickly! I was impressed with how organized things were.. compared to our Canadian cons of course. Genie set me up with an artist alley badge, which was awesome of her, so I helped her set up the next day.

I officially met MeltingMirror as well that day, which was nice as she is a fellow Canadian. She worked the Crunchyroll panel as a special guest along with Sachie that weekend.

We also decided to do a test run of our Matryoshika cosplays that night! I took most of the photos, although Sachie and Genie had a go at the camera as well. I always love our shoots because we're not afraid to give each other direction. We took some outside and then went inside for better lighting.. we wanted to go for a semi-creepy, moe look I think...

Some photos:

We had a lot of fun :9
You can see more photos on my Facebook page (eventually)
Other than that we basically touched base and caught up on sleep that night!

July Topbox 2012 Impressions

Hello everyone! Taking a small break from life to do a quick blog for youuuu

I received my last Topbox yesterday! I quit the service solely because I can't afford the extra expenses right now. I love this service, so I will definitely join again someday!

Onto the goodies:

the spread.

Name: SAMPAR Essentials Ultra Hydrating Fluid
Description: A moisturizing fluid for all ages and skin types with long-lasting hydration and antioxidant protection. (provides long term hydration and protects the skin from harmful effects of pollution)
Price: $80 (50 mL)
What I got: 2 mL (x2)

The full size packaging looks really cute! Although this product would be way to expensive for me to buy. In that sense I really like this sample as it wouldn't be something I could normally try.. I can indulge a little~!

Name: PURE+SIMPLE Calming Cucumber Mask
Description: A refreshing all-natural skin calmer! (gel mask)
Full size: $25.25 (50 mL)
What I got: 20 mL

A pretty generous deluxe sample! Cucumber is gentle with sensitive skin if I remember correctly.. so if I have the time I'm definitely trying this out! Cucumber also helps to reduce the redness in your skin.

Name: NUME Hydro Punch
Description: An incredible blend of Morocco's finest Argan oil, this shampoo unravels years of dullness, damage, split ends, chemical damage, and much more.
Full size: $24.99 (250 mL)
What I got: 20 mL

Another generous deluxe sample. The full size seems pretty affordable for how much you get, so maybe if I really like this shampoo I'll try it out! I have a lot of split ends so I really hope this fixes them somewhat!

Name: Chine Glaze in Blue Sparrow (neon)
Description: A bright blue with micro shimmer.
Full size: $10-12 (14 mL)
What I got: FULL SIZE!

Another nail polish in this month's Topbox! Can't say I complain ;D This was also a personalized shade based on a survey we filled out. I don't think I have a blue so cute and shiny! I'm really happy with this item.

And then when I thought that was it, I noticed another card in the tube:

I couldn't really believe that there was a $100 gift certificate included. But it seems pretty legit! I visited the NUME website and a lot of their styling products are very high quality and expensive.. maybe I can use this to splurge on a new flat iron? :D This is pretty amazing!!

And so I leave Topbox with a heavy heart... for now! Thanks for reading as always♥

Synchronocity Rin Cosplay Progress

I've finally started work on my Synchronicity Kagamine Rin cosplay! I've like that PV for a while now, and while I don't think I suit the super child-like characters I couldn't pass up the opportunity to cosplay with Sachie ohoho! I feel bad for not joining their Atelier cosplay.. but sometimes you have to just go with what you want lol..

Anyways! some progress:

I found this silver necklace in Claire's! It's perfect but it needed to be black so I used black nail polish to paint the metal. I can't remove the chain though without cutting it.. so maybe I'll have to find a way to paint the chain as well...?

So many ruffles for this cosplay..! I could turn into a mummy or a white ninja lol XD

When we went into Toronto for fabric shopping I found this awesome stuff I can use for her shawl thing! I wanted something light, perhaps semi see-through and black/grey.. I think this fits the bill! :D

We're also fancy enough for zippers :O Still needs a clasp at the top, but it's an 'invisible' zipper so it's less noticeable!

She has a very simple top. We literally cut out a long piece of rectangle fabric and attached straps lol.

IRON DEM PLEATS. Rin has a double layered skirt, so I decided to use an off-white, slightly peachy colour to give some contrast. This is my first time making pleats too! So vital for school girl cosplays.. I'm very happy with how the first batch turned out!

TA-DA! Finished the first set. One more set to go! It's hard working non-stop on cosplay right when you get off a nine hour shift.. ;A; WORTH IT.

You might not hear from me for a while, mostly because I'm working on cosplay stuff up until Otakon (the 27th). I might try and squeeze in another progress post once I start actually putting the dress together! I promise ;D

Until next time!
